The Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka overcomes time and distance barriers to share and learn!

We have been digitally recording various presentations held at the Colombo Head Office over the last two months. Some of these lectures are now being delivered from overseas!

Please view our digitally recorded public presentations, memorial lectures, professional review courses etc. at the IESL Lecture Series on YouTube webpage.

Irrespective of the source location, we now LIVE WEBCAST (stream) lectures using Internet on the day of the lecture. Time to time, you will receive email announcements prior to the lecture, indicating Internet link (URL) to watch live streaming.

Please note that we recommend at least 3Mbps (megabits per second) or higher DOWNLOAD speed for a good LIVE streaming experience. In fact, 5 Mbps is ideal. The connection must be stable during the period. While there could be other ways to WATCH A LIVE STREAM,following are two practical suggestions:

    1. Gather a group at a place (university, provincial center, place of work) where those high speeds are available and connect the computer to a projector for all to view. Here we are assuming a high speed ADSL land line connection at the location.

    2. If you don't have a fixed ADSL line, use a mobile dongle and a post or pre-paid plan that  guarantees the download speeds and has enough data bundle from a mobile provider who has good coverage in your viewing locality. Typically a one hour of real-time live data will consists of 1.5- 3 Giga Bytes of data. Here we are talking about the data volume. Data speed mentioned above is in Mega Bits per Second (Mbps)

Of course, if you are unable to watch the live session, as mentioned at the start of this email, always go to IESL Lecture Series on YouTube webpage to view the recorded version. We typically upload the edited version within 48 hours. Recorded versions are delivered through a You Tube channel and can be buffered for a while prior to viewing if your download speeds are low.

Warning: In Sri Lanka none of the providers guarantee stable speeds as stated in their literature.
