‘ENGINEER’, The Journal of The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka, has been established to publish Technical Papers of value and interest to Engineers and contribute to the advancement of the Profession of Engineering. Published papers are based on Engineering research and applications, review of past practices, information of current interest, or probing into new fields of Engineering activity. They are presentations of thought provoking study contributing to planning, analysis, design, construction/fabrication/production, management and maintenance of Engineering developments.

Launched in 1973, the ‘ENGINEER’, is a Quarterly Journal published in the months of January, April, July & October of a year. All published articles have been refereed in anonymity (double blind refereeing) by at least two subject specialists. Section I is dedicated for articles based on Engineering Research while Section II is intended for articles of Professional Interest.

The ‘ENGINEER’ is indexed and abstracted in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), by Thomson Reuters and Clarivate Analytics Services. Further, it is available on the world-wide-web (www) in Sri Lanka Journals Online (SLJOL)

Engineer does not charge for evaluation, review or publication of materials. The total cost of publication is borne by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Contents appearing in the ENGINEER are Open Access articles published under the Creative Commons CC-BY-ND License (

Archiving Policy

This journal is available for LOCKSS harvesting, to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. See LOCKSS harvesting start page.
