As you already know the IESL celebrated its 110th anniversary on 6th January at IESL Headquarters. There was all night pirith chanting ceremony on 3rd January followed by daana on 4th and multi religious activities on 6th. Parallel to these events, several chapters too organized a number of activities to commemorate the IESL anniversary.

The Art of Listening by Eng. Gamini Kulatunga

The art of communication begins with listening for which silence is an imperative. The knowledge and experience, one has acquired, need to be suspended for listening. It is called ‘bracketing”. Kant thus argued that humans can never have direct access to reality, but only to the contents of their minds. The rational mind would see exchange of ideas as a discussion or debate but intuition is required to take part in a real exchange what is known as a dialogue.

2015 IEEE 10th International Conference in Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS 2015)

Dissemination of knowledge is a vital aspect in the development of science and technology. A brilliant idea or a great discovery will be soon forgotten if it is not shared properly, after rigorous scrutiny, at a suitable forum and shared with the appropriate scientific community. This is the essence of a conference: to provide a forum to scrutinize and disseminate scientific and technological knowledge. In the modern era, it is not sufficient to communicate knowledge with a small group in a region or a country.
